Job Description

Position Title: Track & Field Assistant Coach – Jumps Coach
Purpose of Position: Assist the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country with all aspects of coaching, specific focus on the jump events.
Classification: Athletics Department – Assistant Coach
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
Supervision Received: General supervision; reports to Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
Supervision Exercised: N/A
Work Schedule: 10-month position; evening and weekend work is required.

Example of Duties:
This position involves frequent verbal, written, and email correspondence with students, parents, faculty and staff. The successful candidate will:
Program with the Head Coach all practice plans and individual instruction for the jump events for the entire year.
• Recruit student-athletes who embody Eastern University’s core mission and values.
• Able to communicate well with student-athletes, peers, and Head Coach.
• Assists with fundraising, prospective student athlete’s campus visits, official visits, and team bonding activities.
• Demonstrates commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy and the student-athlete experience.
• Ability to work together with members of the athletic department staff and the student-athletes on campus.
• Assist in the creativity for our social media platforms.
• Embodies values of caring and compassion, justice and integrity, competence, and affirmation.
• Seeks to treat each member of the campus community with fairness, dignity and respect seeking a spirit of unity and harmony as we join to achieve our common mission.
• Monitor and adhere to Eastern University, Title IX, NCAA and MAC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Collegiate-level track & field experience in any of the jump events.
• Must be able to perform duties within the normal bounds of an office environment as well as work in a variety of weather conditions and sit/stand for long periods of time.

Compensation:
Includes Stipend ($5,000), Housing, Meal Plan, Tuition Remission (18 credits annually)

Desired Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to work independently, has excellent organization and communication skills (orally and in writing) and will be someone who is able to interpret, apply, and comply with all NCAA and MAC rules and regulations. Desire to pursue a coaching career is also preferred.
