Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), a NCAA DII institution and proud member of the Northeast-10 Conference, is excited to invite applications for the position of Part-Time Assistant Women’s Track & Field Coach (Throws). You will report to the Director of Cross-Country/Head Track and Field coach, to develop and implement training programs to help athletes improve their throwing skills and technique. (SNHU does not sponsor a men’s track & field team.)
In this Role You’ll Get To:
- Plan and lead daily training sessions for the throwing events, including warm-up routines, technical drills and aid in the strength program.
- Asses each athlete’s needs and abilities and develop personalized training plans to help them achieve their goals.
- Provide guidance and feedback to athletes on proper techniques during training and at competitions.
- Assist in recruiting specific student-athletes involved in throwing events.
- Work collaboratively with other coaches, staff, and administrators to ensure the overall success of the track and field program.
- Provide mentorship and support for student-athletes, focusing on their academic, athletic, and personal development.
- Ensure compliance with all NCAA, NE10 Conference, and SNHU policies and regulations.
What we’re Looking For:
- Knowledge and experience training all throwing events and their different styles.
- 1+ year of experience with coaching javelin and hammer.
- Effective ability to communicate and motivate athletes to achieve their goals in a supportive and positive environment.
- Experience or certification in strength training is a plus.
- USTFCCCA or USATF coaching certifications are a plus.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and approved for university’s auto insurance carrier to drive team vans to competitions when needed.
Work Hours:
10-20 hours per week from September through May. Practice times are flexible, but a consistent weekly practice schedule will need to be in place once agreed upon by the director and new coach. The position requires travel and variable hours, including nights and weekends for some competitions.
