Job Description
The Head Men’s and Women’s Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Coach is responsible for all aspects of coordinating and maintaining a competitive, fully compliant NCAA Division III, State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) collegiate level Track and Field program as well as serving as the assistant to the Head Cross Country Coach during the fall season. During the track and field seasons, the successful candidate will oversee the Head Cross Country Coach that also serves as the assistant track and field coach.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ongoing recruitment, proper scheduling, equipment inventory, promoting a culture of sportsmanship and NCAA Division IIII Compliance. Ongoing Planning and effective Verbal and written communication with all members of the Athletic Department, student-athletes, and all enrollment service areas is expected. The candidate will need to collaborate effectively with the Head Cross Country and Assistant Track and Field Coach as well as Sports Information, Sports Medicine and Administrative Staff.
The Head Coach is expected to exhibit and promote sportsmanship, professional behavior, and ethical conduct, as well as represent the institution as a positive role model for student-athletes. Constant documented and effective recruitment and retention of student-athletes is imperative. The successful candidate will assist the Athletic Department and Student Life Division as needed in transporting student-athletes and serving on committees.
Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years of in-season, competitive track and field coaching experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective computer and web-related skills
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree
- 2 years of collegiate coaching experience
- Demonstrated effective recruiting and retention skills
- Strength and Conditioning Certification
- CPR/First Aid
- Experience coaching Sprints, Jumps and Hurdles
Additional Information:
Obligation: 11-month contract (July non-obligation period)
Work Schedule: Full time, requires working nights and weekends with scheduled athletic competitions and recruiting obligations.
