Number of NCAA Credentials (NCAA Bylaw 11.7.4)
Issue: There aren’t enough support staff credentials for Team B.
If School A qualifies 1 male and 1 female to the NCAA track and field championships, Team A will get the same amount of credentials as TEAM B that qualifies 20 men and 20 women.
Bylaw: NCAA Bylaw 11.7.4 / Page 27-28 of 2024 Outdoor Participant Manual
e. One team manager and one administrator per gender per program may receive a credential. Each
institutional program will be allowed to purchase a maximum of one additional manager OR administrator
credential per gender per program at the cost of an all session ticket ($92). If a coach loses their credential,
he/she will be required to pay the cost of an all-session ticket for an additional credential. Only one lost
credential will be provided.
f. Each institution (per gender per program) will be allowed one additional credential if an athletic trainer or
physician is accompanying the team. Each institutional gendered program will be allowed to purchase a maximum of one additional credential for an athletic trainer OR massage therapist at the cost of an all-session ticket ($92). The medical credentials will be administered by the host agency’s sports medicine staff. The host medical staff will be present during packet pick-up to issue those credentials.
Proposal: Increase the ability to buy an additional support staff credentials (for administrator, manager, medical) if a team qualifies more than 10 athletes per gender. It doesn’t make sense that a team qualifying 2 athletes has the same amount of credentials as team that’s qualifying 30 athletes. I’m not looking to take away from the team that has 2 athletes but rather need access to more credentials for the larger team.
