Throwing Events Warm- Up Times
Proposal: This proposal requests that Rule 8 Field Events; Section 1. General Rules for Field Events; Warm-up in Article 6 in the NCAA Cross Country/ Track and Field 2024-25 Rules establish specific minimum warm-up periods for caged (discus, hammer, weight throw) and non-caged(shotput, javelin) throwing events based on the amount of competitors per flight.
Amended by Executive Committee to: This proposal requests that Rule 8, Section 1, Article 6, and Rule 16, Section 1, Article 6 establish warm-up periods for each throwing event. This minimum may be waived if all competitors have informed event officials they are prepared to compete. Minimum warm-up time for each flight is 15 minutes. Maximum warm-up time is calculated by multiplying the number of entries in a flight by two. I.e., a flight with 11 competitors would have a minimum warm-up time of 15 minutes, and a maximum warm-up time of 22 minutes. Flights with less than 8 competitors would still be subject to the 15 minute minimum.
