Job Description

Position Summary:
Eastern New Mexico University is a member of NCAA Division II that competes in the Lone Star Conference. The Cross Country & Track & Field Grad Assistant will assist in the teaching and mentoring of team members relative to sport specific skills, NCAA II rules and regulations, individual and team development concepts. Under the supervision of the Head Coach.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with practice set-up / break-down, monitoring workouts for Pole Vault or Multi’s.
  • Assist full-time staff in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes (PSAs), ability to identify PSAs, assess talent, build relationships, and guide PSAs through the initial eligibility process.
  • Assist with administrative paperwork with pre/post travel for hotels, food, entries, and rentals.
  • Travel to off-campus team competitions
  • Assist with home meet coordination & operation.
  • Recruiting and abiding by NCAA II compliance rules and legislation as well as educating student-athletes about those rules.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Admitted into graduate school and enrolled in 9 hours of graduate coursework (fewer hours required for partial GA)
  • Must maintain a graduate GPA of at least a 3.0
  • Ability to travel / work most weekends during the spring semester.
  • Must pass a background check and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred competition experience in the Pole Vault or Multi’s.

Physical Working Demand:

  • Depending on work type, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise more objects.
  • Spend long hours outside, potentially up early for morning practices.
