Overview:
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master’s and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. Job Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all NCAA, conference, departmental and institutional guidelines and policies
- Demonstrate leadership and professional behavior when dealing with all constituent groups, including and prioritizing student-athletes, athletics department coaches and staff,
and all members of the University community - Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coaching & Education (55%)
o Coordination of practice and competition planning and coaching
o Individual & small group coaching sessions
o Competition day meetings, coaching, post-competition debrief
o Participation in community service events - Recruiting (25%)
o Leverage Teamworks software to coordinate prospective student-athlete recruitment
o Work with admissions office, and members of the Enrollment Management Division, to ensure recruitment of student athletes is consistent and follows institutional best practices
o On and off-campus recruitment, including outreach via mailings, phone calls, visits and electronic communications - Administrative tasks assigned by department (15%)
- Oversee academic, moral, ethical and athletic development of the student-athletes (5%)
- Yearly NCAA rules test
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Intercollegiate playing experience desired. Collegiate coaching experience preferred.
Competencies/Skills:
- Ability to demonstrate cross-country-related skills, interpersonal skills between students, staff, alumni and friends of the University.
Supervision of other Employees:
- Coordinate duties and supervision of part-time assistant coaches.
Work Environment:
- Well lighted, well-ventilated pleasant work area. Work with students and accompany team when traveling.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to demonstrate men’s and women’s cross-country-related techniques. The job entails normal sitting, standing and walking throughout the course of the day.
Equipment To Be Used:
- Must be able to be proficient in word, excel and able to learn other sport related computer programs. Equipment related to sport.
Work Hours
Part-time
- Schedule varies depending on if in-season or out-of-season. The ability to work nights and weekends required to support practices, games and recruiting events.
