Job Summary:
Connecticut College, a highly selective private liberal arts college in New London, CT, and a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), is conducting a national search for a full-time assistant coach of track & field and cross country. This position is full-time for the academic year (44 weeks). Compensation in addition to pay includes a full benefits package. This position has the possibility of renewal and is benefits eligible.
Collegiate track & field experience as an athlete and/or coach is required. This experience must be in the area of horizontal and vertical jumps, with specific experience in the pole vault strongly desired. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Coaches of Track & Field and the Assistant Coach of Track & Field (sprints/hurdles) to implement a successful training plan for all the speed and power events, including coordinating with our part-time throws coach and our full-time strength & conditioning staff.
The successful candidate will learn by assisting with all facets of a Division III track & field and cross-country program, including but not limited to recruiting, home meet management, team travel operations, social media management, community service, fundraising, and equipment management. They will also have other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coaches of Track & Field and Cross Country, including assisting with either Men’s Cross Country practice or Women’s Cross Country practice during the fall season.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
The Assistant Coach will help to develop and implement daily practice sessions and oversee competition in the assigned events; care for the overall development and well-being of student-athletes; adhere to all College, NESCAC and NCAA regulations and represent the institution with the highest professionalism; assist with recruiting; manage the team’s social media outlets; issue and collect team uniforms; care for team equipment; assist with home event management; assist with team travel arrangements and drive 7-passenger and 12-passenger team vans; and complete other administrative tasks as assigned. This position requires both night and weekend availability throughout the academic year.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and prior experience with intercollegiate track & field as an athlete and/or coach required. Must be a team player and have strong interpersonal skills in dealing with current and recruited collegiate athletes. A valid US driver’s license is required.
