Job Description

Minnesota State University Moorhead is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Coach for Hurdles and Multi-Events. Under the direction of the Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach, this position leads all facets of the hurdles and multi-events group within a NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field program, in accordance with NCAA DII, NSIC, and MSUM policies, rules, and regulations.

Areas of Responsibility

Coaching

• Plan and implement hurdles and multi-event training and competition strategies tailored to each athlete and event group.
• Foster a process focused, positive, and competitive team centered environment.
• Support and promote the culture and direction of Dragon Track and Field as set by the head coach.
• Provide support to athletes both academically and athletically.
• Communicate and work cooperatively with fellow Dragon Track & Field coaches, athletic staff, and HPE faculty from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Recruiting

• Successfully recruit and retain NCAA Division II caliber prospects in hurdles and multi-events.
• Clearly communicate MSUM’s core values, Dragon Track and Field team expectations, and the importance of balancing academic success with athletic competition.

Administrative

• Offer recommendations for hurdles and multi-events equipment needs.
• Support upkeep of the track and field competition and practice facilities.

Home Events

• Assist with home track and field and cross country meet set up, direction, and clean up as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience competing or coaching at the collegiate level preferred.
