Belmont University’s Department of Athletics is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Cross
Country/Track & Field Coach. Under the supervision of the Director of Cross Country/Track & Field, the
successful candidate will assist with the overall coordination of the university’s NCAA Division 1
Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field program, with an emphasis in distance and middle distance.
Duties include but are not limited to: assisting the Director in organizing, preparing, and conducting
team practices and training; recruiting student-athletes; planning official/unofficial visits; coordinating
team travel; managing team apparel orders; overseeing social media outlets; organizing special team
events; coordinating team communication regarding practices, meetings, special events, etc.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of experience directly related to the duties and
responsibilities specified. Must be First Aid/AED/CPR certified. Preference will be given to candidates
with experience in women’s distance/middle distance events. Additional requirements include: strong
interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of
constituencies in a diverse community; demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting
specialty; strong organization and administrative skills; ability to foster a cooperative environment;
knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, primarily Word and Excel; knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules;
understanding of academic rigors of a student-athlete and ability to mentor students as they work
toward graduation. The selected candidate will be required to complete a background check, subject to
review and approval by the University.
