The University of South Alabama, a NCAA Division I institution, charter member of the Sun Belt Conference and located on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, Alabama, is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Track & Field Coach.
This position’s primary emphasis will be on coaching Hurdles, Horizontal Jumps and other event areas as assigned by the Head Track & Field Coach, and assist the head coach in all aspects of the Track & Field and Cross Country programs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with directing all phases of the program, with emphasis on; Planning, organizing, and supervising the Horizontal Jumps and Hurdle event athletes at practices and meets; Assist with Home Track & Field meet management; Assist in determining the shoe needs, ordering, and distribution. Commit to and monitor student-athlete academic progress, and participate in community fund-raising efforts and public relations. Computer skills required.
Coordinate recruiting efforts for all event areas. This includes: Compiling recruiting databases for all events. Contacting High School Coaches directly to obtain contact information on potential recruits. Preparing Official Visit and Unofficial Paperwork for all visiting prospective student-athletes. Maintain good relations with parents of prospective and current student-athletes. Organize and assist event coaches with all On-Campus Official and Unofficial Visits. Coordinate Recruiting activities in conjunction with South Alabama Athletic events. Conduct off-campus contacts and evaluations of prospective student-athletes in accordance to NCAA rules. Collect and submit recruiting logs from Coaching Staff.
Must be fully knowledgeable and adhere to all rules and regulations of the NCAA, Sun Belt Conference, and the University of South Alabama as amended from time to time. Recruitment of top student-athletes, commensurate with the admissions qualifications of the University of South Alabama, who are capable of competing at the NCAA Division I level. Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree; three years of coaching experience, USTFCCCA coaching certification required, and college coaching and recruiting experience preferred.
