Job Description
THIS IS A NEWLY ADDED FULL-TIME POSITION!
Under the general supervision of the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, the Assistant Coach of Track & Field and Cross Country will be responsible for assisting with the operation and management of all aspects of the program, including but not limited to: scheduling, budgeting, recruiting, fundraising, practice and competition planning, student-athlete development, monitoring student-athlete academic progress, hosting camps, and community engagement. All work will be done in accordance with university, conference, and NCAA regulations. Due to the nature of this work, a willingness and flexibility to work nights and weekends is required. This position is a campus security authority and mandatory reporter as defined by federal and state law.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 year of experience as a Track & Field and/or Cross Country coach at the high school or college level
Preferred:
- 2 years of experience as a Track & Field and/or Cross Country coach at the high school or college level
- Experience coaching jumps and/or combined events skills.

- Team roster has grown from 30 full members in 2019 to over 80 and has a goal to grow to 120 by end of 2026 recruitment cycle with 34 currently committed for the 2025-2026 season.
- Team GPA has grown from 2.95 to over 3.40 for a full team GPA.
- Team point totals at the conference championships have grown from single digits to just short of triple digits in the 2024 seasons.
- Increased support from the administration including increased operational budget funding, added coaching positions, new locker room spaces and a planned new outdoor track and field space.
- High level jumpers with 2 Wisconsin High School state record holders in the high jump and long jump. 4 men’s high jumpers over 2 meters on the roster or entering the roster, 5 women’s long jumpers with 5+ meter jumps, 3 of those are freshmen and 1 All-American women’s long jumper with several 6+ meter jumps.
