Job Description
Connecticut College, a highly selective private liberal arts college in New London, CT, and a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), is conducting a national search for two full-time assistant coaches of track & field and cross country. These positions are full-time for the academic year (44 weeks) through June 2025 with possibility of renewal for the following academic year. Compensation in addition to pay includes a full benefits package.
Will assist with all facets of a Division III track & field program and cross-country program, including but not limited to recruiting, home meet management, team travel operations, social media management, community service, fundraising, and equipment management. They will also have other responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coaches of Track & Field and Cross Country, including one assigned to assist with Men’s Cross-Country practice and the other assigned to assist with Women’s Cross Country practice during the fall season.
Responsibilities include preparing the team for intercollegiate season, including in-season and non-traditional practices, scouting of opponents and game preparation. These individuals will be responsible for identifying, evaluating and recruiting qualified prospective student athletes including regional and national travel. These individuals will be the primary coaches of the sprints, jumps & hurdles including writing and overseeing practices, meet entries, and season planning in consultation with head coaches. Provide assistance to the Head Coaches of track & field/cross country including team management, travel, budgets and inventory. Oversee student-athletic academic progress and support for overall student-athlete well-being. Assist in the engagement and communication with alumni and parents to support fundraising initiatives. Oversee team social media and marketing efforts. It is expected that this individual has knowledge or and adherence to NCAA Division III, NESCAC, and Connecticut College rules and regulations. This position requires both night and weekend availability throughout the year.
Bachelor’s degree and prior experience with intercollegiate track & field as an athlete and/or coach required with a focus on the sprints, hurdles, horizontal jumps and/or vertical jumps. Must be a team player and have strong interpersonal skills in dealing with current and recruited collegiate athletes. A valid US driver’s license is required.
