Job Description
Summary:
The Adelphi University Track & Field program is looking for an experienced individual to serve as the Assistant Track & Field, Sprints Coach for the 2024-25 academic year. Adelphi seeks a highly motivated person who is positive, adaptable, creative, and who is willing to help reinforce the culture of the program, and serve as a support system for the student-athletes in their charge. This position will assist the Head Coach Cross Country/Track & Field in the overall operations of the intercollegiate program, in accordance with Adelphi University, Northeast-10 Conference, and NCAA Division II regulations.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Plan, organize, and implement the Long/Short sprints training program for all sprinters in the program, including the summer/off-season training
- Collaborate with the Adelphi Athletics Strength & Conditioning coach to ensure that strength training program coincides with the overall training program and current season of competition
- Coordination of practice space – both on and off-campus for respective group
- Assist Head coach/meet director in XC home meet administration & other team-hosted events, both on and off campus
- Assist in the identification and on/off campus recruitment of potential student-athletes for the track program, in accordance with NE10 and NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards
- Assist in the coordination and administration of the overall program, as required. Must be able to perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned in a timely manner.
- Assist with the coordination of team travel arrangements and other duties assigned by the coaching staff
- The ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and electronic forms with recruits, current team members, and other coaches is essential.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Prior coaching and/or playing experience the collegiate level
- Ability to be organized and pay attention to detail
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Demonstrated ability to support student-athletes from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Valid drivers’ license is required
Compensation:
Based on qualified applicants and experience, compensation can include six credits per semester as part of overall package, if applicant is looking to attend graduate school. (Credit compensation only applies to domestic applicants – not international)
