Job Description

PRIMARY DUTY: The Assistant Track & Field Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Track & Field / Cross Country Coach in all phases of highly competitive Division II programs including but not limited to: practice and meet preparation, organizing and running meets, camps, and clinics; recruiting; alumni and public relations; and adherence to the rules of the NCAA, MIAA, and Northwest Missouri State University.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Demonstrate a professional philosophy that supports student-athletes’ welfare and is in compliance with the missions of Northwest Missouri State University and the NCAA
  2. Responsible for home track meet planning, organizing, and management for cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field meets
  3. Responsible for the coaching of throwers (discus, hammer, shotput, weight throw, javelin): organization, planning, and conducting practices, workouts, and competitions.
  4. Assess talent and recruit prospective student athletes for cross country and track and field programs
  5. Assist with team travel for track and field programs
  6. Assist in all equipment control and inventory for track and field programs
  7. Assist in academic monitoring and mentoring for track and field programs
  8. Engages in fund raising activities as assigned
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics
