Job Description

Position: The 10-month, 37.5 hr/week full-time assistant coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of a successful intercollegiate Cross Country and Track program within the framework of the mission of the college and the athletic department. These include, but are not limited to coaching, recruitment, academic monitoring, instruction and the development of all student-athletes. The ideal candidate has experience coaching the distance event areas and cross country. Applicants should have experience competing in intercollegiate cross country and track and field.

Duties: Assistance with oversight for all phases of the Cross Country and Track and Field programs. Primary responsibilities include attracting, recruiting and retaining student-athletes who fit the educational mission of Russell Sage College.

• Practice and meet preparation
• Recruitment efforts including, written and verbal communication and scouting
• Assist with fundraising efforts for the program
• Assist with social media
• Training, practice development and organization
• Compliance with NCAA and conference legislation
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Masters degree preferred
• Highly organized individual with strong writing and verbal skills
• Previous college playing and/or coaching experience required
• Experience in recruiting preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to NCAA Division III philosophy.
