Assistant Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Coach

Responsible for providing leadership, planning, organizing, and for administering all aspects of the Georgia Southern Women’s Cross Country and Distance Track & Field program. This individual will be responsible for fostering and supporting student-athlete welfare, recruiting highly qualified student-athletes, practice scheduling, and competitions, coaching athletes in practice and competitions, maintaining a strong academic environment, organizing conducting camps, home meet organization, and assisting the Head Coach with any other duties determined.

Reports to Head Track and Field and Cross-Country Coach

• Teach skills and strategies for cross country & distance events in both Track and Field and XC seasons.
• Develop training and race plans for all distance events.
• Monitor and hold accountable student-athletes’ academic success.
• Recruit high school, international, and transfer student-athletes that fit our program’s needs.
• Assist with travel coordination.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays as the competition and practice season dictates.
• Adhere to all rules, conditions, and regulations set by Georgia Southern University, the Sun Belt Conference, and the NCAA.

Qualifications: bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Three years of collegiate Track & Field coaching experience is preferred. Knowledge of NCAA Division I Track and Field practices and regulations, ability to establish good rapport and relationships with players, administrators, staff, alumni, and the public. Must have proven organizational and recruiting skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous coaching experience at the High School or Collegiate level.
• Experience with Cross Country and/or distance-events
• Completion of USATF Level 1 or USTFCCCA base-level courses
• Valid U.S. driver’s license preferred.
