Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

The Department of Athletics at Bradley University invites applications for the position of Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach.

This twelve month, full-time position is responsible for assisting with all phases of a Division I Cross Country and Track & Field program to include:

Training and Coaching:

• Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for distance runners, focusing on both individual and team goals.
• Conduct regular practice sessions, providing technical expertise, motivation, and guidance in all aspects of middle and long distance running.

Recruitment and Scouting:

• Assist in identifying, evaluating, and recruiting talented distance runners who fit the program’s athletic and academic standards.
• Maintain relationships with high school coaches, athletes, and scouting networks to identify prospective student-athletes.

Athlete Development:

• Monitor and evaluate the performance and progress of athletes through performance analysis and individual meetings.
• Provide feedback and guidance to athletes on technical skills, race strategies, and mental preparation.

Academic Support and Compliance:

• Monitor the academic progress and well-being of student-athletes, ensuring compliance with NCAA academic eligibility requirements.
• Collaborate with academic support services to facilitate academic success among team members.

Team Administration:

• Assist in the planning and organization of team travel, competitions, and related logistics.
• Assist in the planning and organization of equipment.
• Contribute to the overall administration of the cross country and track and field program as assigned by the head coach.

Promotion and Public Relations:

• Assist in promoting the program through social media, community engagement, and alumni relations.
• Support fundraising efforts and participate in public relations activities to enhance the program’s visibility and support.

A Bachelor’s degree is required; past experience as a cross country and track athlete and/or coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred. Candidates must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; proficiency with computer applications; a commitment to excellence and sensitivity to cultural differences and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. The successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
