Job Description

Title: Assistant Men’s & Women’s Cross Country/Women’s Track Coach
Position: 10 Month, full time fellowship
Reporting: The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Coach, Men’s & Women’s Cross Country & Women’s Track
Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree is required and a minimum of 2 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred, or competitive experience as a student-athlete or post-collegiate athlete and high school coaching experience will also be considered, in the event areas of middle and long distances/cross country. Additional USTFCCCA and/or USATF coaching certification is also preferred, with an opportunity to complete USTFCCCA or USATF Coaching Education curriculum once hired.
Environment of Job: This position will require working outside for extended periods of time in all environmental conditions, as well as weekend travel. Candidates must be available for practice sessions and competition travel which can be outside of traditional work hours. Work hours will vary from week to week, at minimum requirements are to participate and execute all practice sessions, all weekend (Saturday and/or Sunday) practices and all competitions and out-of-season competitions as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities: This position requires supporting the head coach in all aspects of student-athlete training. Student-athlete development includes supporting workout session execution, recovery, nutrition, mental/emotional health support, and academics. Recruiting duties are required, including assessing PSAs, conducting phone calls, in person contacts on and off campus evaluations, passing the NCAA Recruiting Exam and coordinating the recruitment strategy with the Head Coach. Carry out duties of job within NCAA and Loyola University Maryland regulations.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to monitor academic advising input and support the student-athlete in the academic setting. Developed skills in cross functional settings beyond the track and field environment, such as university administration, professional colleagues, and high school recruiting contacts. Data entry proficiency, including ARMS, TFRRS, and Direct Athletics.
