Part-Time Assistant Coach for Women’s Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field

Haverford College invites applications for a part-time Assistant Coach for Women’s Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field. This 10-month position (approximately 1,000 hours annually) reports to the Head Coach.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Coach will support all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III program, contributing to athlete development, team culture, and recruiting. The role emphasizes event-specific coaching, strong communication, and alignment with Haverford’s commitment to academic and athletic excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with coaching for cross country and track & field
• Plan and implement training for designated event group(s)
• Support daily practice execution and athlete development
• Coach and support athletes in competition
• Contribute to recruiting, including communication and visits
• Assist with team operations, travel, and home meet management
• Support team culture and program standards

Time Commitment:

Cross Country Season (end of August–October; ~5 weeks, ~15 hrs/week)

• Assist with practices, competitions, and recruiting engagement

Track & Field Preseason (November–December; ~4 weeks, ~10 hrs/week)

• Transition to track & field training and early-season preparation

Track & Field Season (January–May; ~28 weeks, ~15 hrs/week)

• Assist with practices, competitions, and recruiting engagement

Postseason (May–June; ~3 weeks, ~10 hrs/week)

• Support championship competition and end-of-year planning
• Assist with summer training plans and program review

Qualifications:

• Coaching experience and/or collegiate competing experience preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

• Experience supporting a team-centered, high-performance environment
