Job Description

The Assistant Men’s & Women’s Track and Cross Country Coach (Hurdles/Sprints)/Professor of P.E shall be responsible to the Director of Athletics. Duties and responsibilities shall be, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the operation of an NJCAA Division I Men and Women’s Cross Country / Track and Field program.
  • Assist Head Coach in all aspects of coaching and administration of the program with an emphasis on recruiting prospective student-athletes and coaching in assigned areas. An emphasis on coaching.
  • Orientate each athlete as to grade requirements and expectations.
  • Recruit athletes.
  • Monitor and encourage athletes to attend class and fulfill degree requirements.
  • Supervise Study Hall.
  • Arrange for tutors in Learning Lab.
  • Perform periodic grade checks.
  • Assist in dorm supervision and dining hall when needed, providing there is no conflict with athletic activities.
  • Emphasis on coaching hurdles and sprints.
  • Assist in facility upkeep and management as it pertains to day to day operation of track / field.
  • Assist in any other duties as assigned that the Director of Athletics or the Head Track / Field Coach deem necessary.
  • Follow and abide by NJCAA and WJCAC rules, guidelines, and/or policies.
  • Perform the required duties of instructing the activity courses assigned to the specific sport. This includes grade reporting and attending all faculty meetings as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
