Job Description

 

The Assistant Men’s and Women’s Track/Cross Country Coach is responsible for assisting the head coaches of both the Men’s and Women’s Teams with all tasks related to program development with a specific focus on coaching and recruiting for the sprint/hurdle events. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of expertise in technical development of sprints athletes as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under the direction of two head coaches simultaneously.

The candidate should possess strong leadership skills, quality communication, and have a clear understanding of NCAA rules, applications, and philosophies. Duties will primarily be planning and running sprints practices but will also include recruiting, travel/meet organization, and other duties as assigned by the head coaches.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement practice and meet preparation for both men’s and women’s sprints/hurdle athletes
  • Provide technical instruction in all sprints events including hurdles
  • Collaborate with all staff including head coaches, strength and conditioning, and athletic trainers to design and monitor specific training plans
  • Assist in recruiting efforts of sprints and hurdle athletes including evaluation, communication, and visit coordination
  • Exercise discretion and judgement in decision-making re: NCAA compliance as well as Conference and Institutional Policies
  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of all cultures and backgrounds.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Must have a working knowledge/understanding of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn quickly, The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday, Watermark, Navigate, and Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coaching and recruiting at NCAA level
  • Expertise in sprints/hurdle events
  • USATF Level II Coaching Certification or USTFCCCA Event Certification
