Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
Experience Required: Successful coaching at high school level and/or experience competing at collegiate level; Experience coaching the jumps (high jump and the horizontal jumps)
Experience Preferred: 1-2 years coaching jumps at the collegiate level
Type of Position: Part-Time

Summary of Position:
This is a part-time position reporting directly to the Director of Cross Country and Track and Field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General:
- Understand and agree to abide by the mission of Biola University and the Biola Athletics Department.
- Have a valid California Class C license and be physically able to drive cars and vans as needed and assigned by the Head Coach.
- Adhere to all institutional, PacWest, and NCAA Division II by-laws and regulations.
- Effectively manage time in a demanding work environment.
- Help in spiritual growth of student-athletes; ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes.
Training and Competitions
- Oversee all organization and preparation of individual and team practices, conducting individual and team practices, using sound principles and judgment consistent with the philosophy of the Director and Biola Athletics.
- Ability to enter student-athletes into competitions using athletic.net and Direct Athletics.
- Provide technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport, during practices and competitions.
- Assist with the recruiting of prospective student-athlete jumpers either through phone or in person on campus, as requested by the Associate Head Coach who oversees recruiting in that area.
- Complete all NCAA D2 University mandatory courses annually, prior to participating in any CARA activity or contact with prospective student-athletes
Administrative - Oversee all inventory of apparel and shoes within the program.
- Oversee study hall hours electronically each week.
- Ensure CARA hours of the jumpers are logged on ARMs on a weekly basis.
- Respond to coaching emails, texts, or calls within 24 hours.
- Complete any other tasks assigned by the Head Coach in a timely manner.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- Knowledge of applicable team or individual sports and playing rules.
- Demonstrated competitive coaching skills in area of sporting specialty.
- Organizing and coordinating skills.
- Skills in the use of first aid and CPR procedures.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to help effectively arrange and manage home contests according to conference and NCAA requirements.
