RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Head Coach and in accordance with all NCAA, Conference, State and Institutional rules and regulations this position will assist the head coach in all phases of a Division I Track & Field/Cross Country program, specializing in coaching the following event areas: Cross Country/Distance
- Teach the technical aspects of the sport of track & field/cross country to the student-athletes and continue to develop those skills during their careers.
- Assist the head coach with the recruitment of prospective track & field/cross country student-athletes. Including but not limited to engaging in official and unofficial visits, electronic and phone correspondence with prospective student-athletes, and traveling to meets and competitions where prospects are competing.
- Support the head coach with administrative responsibilities.
- Assist the head coach and the academic staff in monitoring the student-athletes academic progress.
- Work closely in conjunction with the head coach to monitor athletic scholarship spending for distance group.
- Know, recognize and comply with the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing UWM and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and the Horizon League.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2 years collegiate coaching experience in cross country/distance
- Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- USATF Level 1, 2, or 3 certifications
- USTFCCCA Academy Course work
- Demonstrated success with collegiate cross country/distance program
