This is a FULL TIME Temporary Position.
Job Date: Jan 6, 2025 – May 30, 2025.
Hours Per Week: 37.5

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Head Track & Field Coach, the Assistant Coach performs all duties
necessary to support a nationally competitive Division I program in the Big South Conference. Adheres to all Winthrop University, NCAA and Big South Conference rules and regulations. This position will be in charge of the coaching and management of distance student-athletes for the remainder of the academic year.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and coaching experience at the collegiate, high school or club level.

Preferred Qualifications: Collegiate playing experience; recruiting experience; experience counseling and advising
student-athletes; experience with ARMS or similar recruiting software; and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Summary: Expert knowledge of track and field and coaching techniques. Working knowledge of NCAA and Big South Conference rules and regulations and the ability to apply them. Exceptional organizational, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate and teach sport-specific skills. Ability to maintain high ethical and moral standards, cultivate an encouraging and inclusive environment, and inspire and motivate student athletes academically, athletically and professionally. Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel as needed.

Travel/Overtime Requirements: Requires extensive travel, including overnight, for recruiting and competitions.
