Within the framework of Pfeiffer University’s mission of educating the whole person, the Assistant Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field will fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting the head coach in all facets of the program as follows:
Assisting with the coaching and administration of an NCAA Division III cross country and track & field programs.
Assisting with designing and implementing training programs for cross country and track & field student-athletes.
Evaluation and recruiting of prospective student-athletes.
Assisting with team travel and budget management.
The position requires assisting with game management and other duties that may be assigned by the athletic department.
Performing other duties as assigned by the Head Coach for Cross Country and Track & Field.
This is a full-time, 10-month position.
Bachelor’s degree required. A master’s degree preferred.
Demonstrated collegiate running and/or coaching experience preferred.
An understanding of track and field coaching philosophies, training strategies, practice planning, and recruiting at the NCAA level is preferred.
Strong consideration will be given to applicants with a history of proven recruiting experience.
A coaching background or experience in distance events is preferred.
Must possess strong communication skills.
Must have the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to withstand long periods of working outdoors subject to heat and cold.
