Job Description

 

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff invites resumes for a full-time, twelve-month, position with full benefits. The Assistant Cross Country/Track and Field Coach Assist the Head Coach in administering all phases of a Division I Intercollegiate Assistant Cross Country/Track and Field Coach program.

General Responsibility:
This is a full-time benefits eligible position. The Assistant Coach Track and Field and Cross Country responsibilities will include the management and oversight of all facets of the UAPB Track and Field and Cross- Country programs. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: administration, alumni stewardship, recruiting, scheduling of competitions, meet management, team travel, weekly practice sessions, advising of students, and compliance with NCAA and SWAC conference rules and regulations. In addition, this position will include teaching responsibilities and instruction in the required physical education and wellness activities program. Additional responsibilities may include department wide duties as assigned.

This position involves frequent verbal, written, and email correspondence with students, parents, faculty and staff. The successful candidate will:

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in administering all phases of the Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I Track & Field/Cross Country program.
  • Assists with practice schedules, home competitions, team travel, recruitment, compliance and event management, individualized instruction, evaluation and recruitment of prospective student-athletes.
  • Coordinates recruitment and travel.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Weekend travel to various track meets, as well as some cross country meets.
  • Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.

  • Recruitment of Sprinters, Middle Distance, and Distance for next year.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree
  • Two years track & field and/or cross-country coaching experience High School or College

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated expertise in planning and directing a collegiate Cross Country and Track & Field program.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I and SWAC rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with students, faculty, administration, alumni, and the general public.
  • This position requires both sedentary work and long durations of movement about the workspace. It requires the ability to move and transport objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential tasks with or without an accommodation
