Job Description

The University of Sioux Falls invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, Assistant Track & Field – Jumps/Multi-Events Coach (12-month). Position to begin on or before August 1, 2021. USF is a member of the NCAA Division II and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

General Description and Major Functions

The Assistant Track & Field – Jumps/Multi-Events Coach is a full-time position and reports directly to the Head Cross Country Coach/Director of Track Operations and indirectly to the Director of Athletics, while working cooperatively with other Track & Field coaches. The successful applicant will assist with all aspects of running a DII collegiate track and field program. Major functions include responsibility for the design and implementation of all workouts and event specific training and practice for high, long, and triple jump and multi-events and pole-vault in coordination with the Head Coach, and recruiting student-athletes with high academic and athletic ability. Travel with the team to all away and home competitions in addition to coaching and supervising high, long, and triple jump athletes at meets is included. The successful candidate will work as a part of the track and field coaching staff in preparation for home meets and be responsible for tracking and retaining of all recruiting, training and practice records as needed. Position may have other duties as assigned and appropriate to the coaching position.


The successful candidate will need to be proactive and understand the need to hold themselves and the student-athletes to the highest standards; have significant knowledge of and demonstrate leadership skills, organizational and communication skills, recruiting and coaching skills, adequate understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel, and knowledge of and adherence to compliance of all NCAA applicable procedures, rules, and regulations.

The individual must also demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a Christian higher education institution and abide by all NCAA DII, Northern Sun Conference, and University policies.

A bachelor’s degree is required; with coaching experience or a combination of participation and coaching experience, strong professional work ethic, and a commitment to the academic success of students. Travel is necessary an a valid driver’s license required, the ability to successfully pass a background check, and lift up to 40 lbs. is required.
