Job Description

SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY is seeking a full-time assistant coach for its combined men’s and women’s track and field program for the 2024-25 school year, and beyond.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for this position include the ability to coach competitive intercollegiate athletes (and a desire to develop nationally competitive athletes) in the pole vault, high jump and multi-events. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to coach these events. Competitive experience at the intercollegiate level or beyond, intercollegiate coaching experience, and a bachelor’s degree are preferred, but are not absolutely necessary. An advanced degree, and/or recruiting experience, and/or USATF/USTFCCCA coaching certification of any level are, of course, a plus.

DUTIES of this position will include planning and overseeing the day-to-day training and development of student-athletes in the above-mentioned events. Additional duties will be assigned by the head coach depending on the strengths and experiences of the successful candidate but will include recruiting qualified student-athletes for our pole vault/high jump/multi-events group.

COMPENSATION for this position will include a full-time, 12-month salary, and a generous benefits package.

SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY is a medium-sized, Catholic, liberal arts institution located in Fairfield, Connecticut, and is a NCAA Division 1 member of the Northeast Conference (NEC). Sacred Heart will be joining the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), effective in the summer of 2024. We conduct a comprehensive, broad-based track and field/cross country program, and we currently have approximately 100 women and 75 men on our rosters.
