Job Description

The coach will assist with sprints, hurdles, relays and jumps and/or multis for both women and men. This position also includes recruiting student-athletes who can contribute athletically to the entire program and reflect the spiritual and academic standards of Multnomah University.


Effectively coach, travel, operate within fiscal boundaries, develop and maintain boundaries with student-athletes, parents, fans and campus faculty/staff. Coach specific events at all meet competitions. Interact professionally with support staff throughout the athletic department. Interact professionally with general university faculty, staff and student body on a frequent basis. Must be able to travel and work nights and weekends. May be responsible for driving team/personal vehicles to and from practices/meets.

Various administrative duties will be assigned at the discretion of the Head Coach which may include but not limited to the following:
Program fundraising + mission trips; Overseeing academic progress (Study Halls); Communicating with Head Coach for ordering of supplies/equipment/team gear; Helping arrange travel schedules, booking rooms, meals, rental vehicles, etc.

Implement program strategy for recruitment, development and retaining student-athletes by:
Attend high school/club or junior college competitions throughout the academic calendar in order to develop relationships with potential student-athletes in cross country (Fall season) and track & field (Spring season). Maintain database of recruits’ information including phone numbers, emails, academic potential including major, the proper event grouping, etc. Follow up weekly/biweekly with recruits in order to determine ongoing status with the program. Coordinate internal database with Admissions and understand where the recruit is during the application process. Goal of getting student-athletes onto campus for an official visit to meet with Head Coach.

Bachelor’s degree preferred
Proficient knowledge in event grouping within cross country/track & field
Demonstrate commitment to compliance with the NAIA, Cascade Collegiate Conference, and Multnomah University and the athletic department rules and regulations
CPR/First Aid/AED/Concussion Certified (can attain within 30 days of employment)
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
