Assistant Track & Field Coach Sprints/Hurdles

CATEGORY/LEVEL: Part-time, 10-month position

BASIC FUNCTION: Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of the NJCAA intercollegiate track and field programs.

START DATE: ASAP

SALARY: Salary based on experience. Opportunity for additional income and housing. This position is not eligible for benefits.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Coaching experience or demonstrated ability to coach college athletes
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to engage and interact with varying age groups
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Experience competing or coaching college track and field
  • Knowledge of NJCAA

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Knowledge of sprints and hurdles technique and ability to coach said athletes on a daily basis.
  • Recruit and retain qualified students to help take the program forward, monitor their academic performance and hold study tables in order to help athletes progress successfully towards completion and graduation.
  • Coach and supervise the track and field team during scheduled practices, games and other events linked to the track and field program.
  • Assist the program with all NJCAA rules and regulations. Assist in developing strategies to motivate maximum level of individual and team athletic performance required to build and maintain a competitive, high-quality NJCAA program.
  • Develop strategies to ensure a safe environment for the athletes.
  • Promote the athletic program both on campus and off campus and actively participate in and contribute professionally to the Athletic Department.
  • Plan and conduct camps and other fundraising events coordinated with the Head Coach.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills, demonstrate reliability, and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Fulfill other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
