Job Description:
Canisius University, a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, invites interested and qualified persons to apply for the position of Graduate Assistant Coach for Cross Country/Track & Field. The Graduate Assistant Coach ensures the Canisius Cross Country and Track program is administered with constant commitment to compliance with all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Canisius is a member of the Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. This is a graduate position which reports to the Head Coach for Cross Country/Track & Field.

• Responsibilities:
  Train and evaluate well-prepared student-athletes. Organize and execute individual skill instruction for players.
• Assist with academic advisement, monitoring and development of student-athletes.
• Recruit qualified student athletes for Canisius College Cross Country program.
• Assist with team travel and recruiting trip arrangements. Assist with coordinating official and unofficial visits, written correspondence and telephone communications.
• Ensure the Cross Country program is administered with constant commitment to compliance with all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree is required.
• Coaching, playing and/or recruiting experience at the collegiate level is preferred.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to work with a diverse population of student-athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators.
• Must have and maintain a valid New York State driver’s license with a positive driving record per the college’s insurance provider (or upon moving to NYS obtain a NYS driver’s license within NYS DMV residency guidelines after hire).

Duration and Compensation:
This is a 10-month position that can be renewed for a second year. 6 graduate course tuition waivers (3 credits per waiver) and a $7K stipend.
