Job Description

GENERAL INFORMATION: The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus is located on Milwaukee’s upper East Side, one of the city’s most attractive residential areas. Milwaukee Athletics currently has 300 student-athletes participating in fifteen NCAA Division I sports as part of the Horizon League Conference and has moved itself into a prominent position both regionally and nationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Head Coach and in accordance with all NCAA, Conference, State and Institutional rules and regulations this position will assist the head coach in all phases of a Division I Track & Field/Cross Country program, specializing in coaching the following event areas: sprints/hurdles/relays.

  • – Teach the technical aspects of the sport of track & field to the student-athletes and continue to develop those skills during their careers.
  • Assist the head coach with the recruitment of prospective track & field student-athletes. Including but not limited to engaging in official and unofficial visits, electronic and phone correspondence with prospective student-athletes, and traveling to meets and competitions where prospective student-athletes are competing.
  • Support the head coach with assigned administrative responsibilities
  • Assist the head coach and the academic staff in monitoring the student-athletes academic progress.
  • Work closely in conjunction with the head coach to monitor athletic scholarship spending for sprints/hurdles/relays group.
  • Know, recognize and comply with the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing UWM and its employees, and the rules of the NCAA and the Horizon League.

DESIRED STARTING DATE: September 6, 2022 or sooner


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years collegiate coaching experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules


  • USATF Level 1, 2, or 3 certification
  • USTFCCCA Academy Course work
  • Demonstrated experience with sprints/hurdles/relays

SALARY/PAY BASIS: This is a 12-month full-time appointment designated as limited. This position comes with a competitive salary and benefit package.
