Job Description
Northern Illinois University is seeking to hire 2 Graduate Assistants (10-month) for the Women’s XC/Track & field Programs. These positions will work primarily with XC/Distance & Throwing athletes. Reports to the Head XC Coach during Cross Country season and Director of Track & Field/XC Coach during the indoor and outdoor season.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Work alongside NIU Track & Field coaching staff in all aspects of the programs.
- Assist the coaching staff with the planning and preparation of all practices.
- Assist staff in identifying and recruiting qualified student-athletes to NIU.
- Assist in planning and organizing travel logistics for the Track & Field Program.
- Responsible for attending all practices and off-campus competitions.
- Responsible for driving athletes to practices and competitions.
- Assist with home meet management and operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Previous participation and/or coaching experience in Disciplines
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Admissions to a Master Program at NIU
- Must maintain a Graduate GPA of at least 3.0.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Willing to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification within first 90 days of employment.
NIU Athletic Graduate Assistantships include a tuition waiver, applicable toward instructional tuition charges (excludes student fees, institutional charges, program differentials, books, etc.), and a bi-monthly paycheck.
