Mercer University, an NCAA Div. I and Southern Conference (SoCon) institution located in Macon, Georgia, is currently accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant Coach for Cross Country/ Track.
Full tuition, on-campus housing, and a limited meal plan are provided. Available graduate programs to study include Master of Business degrees, Higher Ed Leadership, and the possibility of limited other programs, but must be based on the Macon campus or fully online.
This position will assist in all aspects of the NCAA Division I program including training, monitoring of academic progress of student-athletes, recruiting, fundraising, and promotion of the program and university within the region, along with all other duties assigned by the Head Cross Country coach. This is a hands-on coaching position that is aimed to provide the necessary experience for further advancement in coaching at the collegiate level.
The ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and electronic forms with recruits, current team members, and coaches is essential. Preference will be given to those with previous coaching or competition experience in distance/middle distance. The candidate must have a commitment to adhering to all rules and regulations of Mercer University, the SoCon Conference, and the NCAA. Valid driver’s license required. Employment is contingent upon the results of a criminal background check, certification by Mercer for driving campus vehicles, and acceptance into a graduate program.
Requirements: Ability to travel and work early mornings, evenings, and weekends; drive vehicles for practice and competition travel.
