Job Description
The Graduate Assistant Coach assists the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country in providing leadership for a NCAA Division I Cross Country / Track & Field Program. Assists with all aspects of the program and plays an integral part in the day-to-day student-athlete coaching support, administrative responsibilities, daily team training, evaluation and recruitment of student-athletes, academic monitoring, and skill development. This position must work within PFW, Horizon League, and NCAA guidelines to provide student-athletes an exceptional collegiate experience while competing for championships.
**This position is hiring a coach with specialties in Distance OR Combined Events**
Job Duties:
- Assists the Director in providing leadership for a NCAA Division I Cross Country / Track & Field Program along with the overall coaching, management, and administration of the program.
- Recruit and retain student-athletes.
- Assist with meet management of PFW’s home cross country meet and home track & field meet.
- Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and university as well as the rules and regulations of the Horizon League and NCAA.
- Travel Coordination: Help with team itineraries, meals, practice schedules and other related requirements for travel.
- Track countable athletic related activities through SPRY
- Assist with team community service events and assist with team fundraising.
- Participate in University, civic, and public relations activities for promotion of the sport.
- Other duties as assigned

- Strong emphasis on recruiting
- Identifying and evaluating potential student-athletes.
- Building relationships with high school coaches and athletes.
- Organizing recruiting events and visits.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Must be highly dependable, flexible, and available to work evenings and weekends
- Ability to interact professionally with the public
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors
- Work effectively as a team member
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Previous coaching experience
- Former student-athlete that competed in the NCAA at the Division 1, 2 or 3 level(s) and/or NAIA
