West Texas A&M University seeks applications for a Graduate Assistant to help with all aspects of operating a nationally competitive Cross Country and Track & Field program. This position reports directly to the head cross country coach. This position will assist the head coach with all aspects related to daily practices, team travel, recruiting, academic success, home meet management, camp promotions, team gear organization, and all other tasks the coaching staff directs. Renewal will be determined following each academic semester. Opportunity for additional pay is available through working the summer cross country camp in July.
Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to, recruiting, planning and conducting practices, assisting with home meet management, academic support, organizing equipment and apparel, camp promotion, and other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience as a collegiate coach or track and field student-athlete is required. The ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and electronic forms with recruits, current team members and coaches is essential. The ability to demonstrate authority and and take control of the practice environment. Knowledge of NCAA rules is strongly preferred.
