Job Description

Eastern Illinois University is seeking graduate candidates for a Graduate Assistant position with the Track & Field/Cross Country program beginning August 1, 2026. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the Pole Vault &/or Combined Events area(s).

Opportunities and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Working in collaboration with EIU coaching staff in all aspects of the TF/CC program
• Identify and recruit qualified student-athletes to EIU
• Assist in coordinating recruiting activities and meetings on campus
• Heavily involved in day-to-day and long term operations planning for the TF/CC program
• Responsible for attending all practices and competitions
• Home meet management
• Abide by all written policies, procedures, and guidelines of Eastern Illinois University, the Department of Athletics, Ohio Valley Conference, and NCAA
• Coaching duties will be assigned based on area(s) of expertise (if applicable)
• Other duties as assigned

Two-year program. Contract runs August 1st through May 31st (10 months). Includes tuition waiver and $1100/month stipend. Waiver does not cover fees.

Currently, more than 1,600 part-time and full-time graduate students are enrolled, and more than 300 faculty hold graduate faculty status.
Previous collegiate TF/CC and/or Operations experience are highly preferred.
Offer is contingent on acceptance into EIU Graduate School and full admission into a Master’s program.
