Job Description
Hurdles Graduate Assistant
This position will assist the Head Coach and lead assistant in the organization, administration and promotion of all aspects of the Concordia University’s Irvine Track and Field program. Coaching includes assisting the Head Coach and lead assistant in instruction of all hurdles practices, techniques, and applications; program management for the hurdles area assigned and preparation of recommendations to the Head Coach and lead assistant. This position adheres to the policies set forth by Head Coach and Athletic Director, as well as Concordia University Irvine, the PacWest Conference and NCAA.
POSITION DUTIES:
COACHING:
- Oversees the CUI hurdles practice time under the guidance of the Head Track & Field coach and lead assistant. Manages the hurdles group appropriately while teaching and supervising.
- Provides consultation and expert advice to Head Coach and lead assistant in hurdles.
- Prepares, plans, conducts, and evaluates practice sessions, as directed by Head Coach and lead assistant.
- Teaches individuals and groups of student-athletes specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season.
- This position is available to coaches and student-athletes during and after practices and events.
- Will be on time and attend all practices/meets unless previous arrangements have been made with Head Coach (Head Coach Discretion)
RECRUITMENT:
- Follow all NCAA and Concordia University Irvine’s recruiting policies.
- Will be NCAA certified to recruit off Campus.
TEAM ADMINISTRATION:
- Follows CUI procedures in handling any monies that flow through the athletic program.
- Plans long and short term team objectives under the leadership of the Head Coach.
- Administers day to day operations and all other assigned duties as directed by the Head Coach.
