Michigan Technological University invites applications for the Graduate Assistant Coach of Men’s and Women’s Track & Field position. The GA will assist the head coach in all aspects of the NCAA Division II Track & Field programs, coaching/teaching, recruiting, team travel, daily practice sessions, community service, academic enrichment, counseling of students, and other duties assigned by the Athletic Administration. The position requires an understanding of the role of intercollegiate athletics in a highly competitive academic environment. Requires night and weekend work, and overnight travel to away games and recruiting tournaments. The assistant coach takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. The position has a minimum stipend of $3,000 plus graduate tuition remission up to 9 credits per semester. The opportunity for summer funding may be available as well. Renewal will be determined following each academic semester.
Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to, recruiting, planning and conducting practices, assisting with home meet management, academic support, organizing equipment and apparel, and other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience as a collegiate coach or track and field student-athlete is required. The ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and electronic forms with recruits, current team members and coaches is essential. Knowledge of NCAA rules is strongly preferred.
