Fort Hays State University, a NCAA Division II institution, charter member of the Mid-America Athletic Intercollegiate Conference, is seeking applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant – Track & Field.
Fort Hays State is looking for qualified applicants seeking a profession in coaching at the collegiate level. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
• Assists head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition. Assist with home meet organization, management, set up and administration.
• Assists in the identification and recruitment of potential student-athletes for the track program, in accordance with MIAA and NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards.
• Assistance in the coordination and administration of the overall program, as required. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Coordinates Team Travel arrangements and other duties assigned by the Head Coach.
• The position includes some teaching requirements. Graduate assistantships are one year renewable contracts that are subject to semester by semester favorable review. The stipend for a graduate assistant position is typically $10,000 for a 9 month contract, but may vary depending on assignment and source of graduate assistant support. In addition, on-campus room & board assistance is available.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience in the sprint events is preferred as a collegiate coach or athlete. The ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and electronic forms with recruits, current team members and coaches is essential.
