Lincoln Memorial University invites applications for a Graduate Assistant in Track & Field. This position is responsible for assisting in the overall coaching and management of the men’s and women’s track and field program with an emphasis with the sprint, jumps, and hurdles within the philosophy of Lincoln Memorial University, the NCAA Division II structure, and the South Atlantic Conference guidelines. In addition to competitiveness, the Graduate Assistant will emphasize holistic student well-being and be a relentless supporter of Lincoln Memorial University and its athletics department. This position covers 9 credit hours of tuition per semester and housing.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the development and implementation of training plans for designated event group(s) during indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.
- Coach student-athletes as assigned during practices and meets. Provide oversight and evaluation of student-athletes’ daily progress, including the students’ academic, personal, and athletic development.
- Recruit prospective student athletes in compliance with university-developed goals.
- Recruitment may include making initial contact with prospective students and families, assisting with campus visits, maintaining regular contact with recruits, maintaining notes in ARMS, and providing advice on the admission process, financial aid, and LMU Experience.
- May be assigned additional duties such as equipment management, study table supervision, and assisting with social media.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the LMU staff to integrate efforts and create program success.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Undergraduate degree.
- Acceptance or ability to be accepted into Lincoln Memorial University Graduate Program.
- Strong collegiate background, or coaching experience in throwing events.
- Desire to coach within the NCAA Division II philosophy and SAC and LMU guidelines.
- Ability to collaborate and participate as an active member of the athletic department and the University community.
- Good organizational and management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
