Job Description

 

Job Summary:

Eastern University (EU) seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support the Cross Country/Track & Field coaching staff with sprint and hurdle responsibilities including NCAA Division III, MAC conference, and university regulations. Strong consideration given to female candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach and assist practice sessions, workouts and competitions.
  • Plan and supervise training plans for sprint/hurdle student-athletes under the supervision of the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country.
  • Recruiting and communicating with PSA’s.
  • Assist in official and unofficial recruiting visits on campus.
  • Develop a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport, and maintain familiarity with all University, NCAA, and MAC rules and regulations.
  • Assist with team equipment inventory, ordering and issuing.
  • Assist with detailed training and practice planning.
  • Assist in monitoring individual student-athlete progress to ensure academic eligibility, study hall requirements, and referral to appropriate academic resources if necessary.
  • Supervise student-athletes and monitor adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct and behavior.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director.

Qualifications:

Eligibility

  • Must have completed a Bachelor’s degree
  • Must be accepted into an EU graduate degree program
  • All welcome to apply, women candidates preferred

Experience

  • Student-Athlete at the University level, preferably at the NCAA Division 1, 2, or 3 level
  • Interest in coaching, sports administration, or related field preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong desire to pursue a career in collegiate coaching
  • Familiarity with NCAA Division III rules and regulations
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.

Compensation:

  • Tuition Remission (18 credits annually)
  • $5,000 stipend
