Job Description
Pittsburg State University, a NCAA Division II institution, charter member of the Mid-America Athletic Intercollegiate Conference, is seeking applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant/Intern – Track & Field (Pay includes a tuition waiver and a stipend which will be determined by qualification).
Pittsburg State is looking for qualified applicants seeking a profession in coaching at the collegiate level.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting associate head coach/meet director in home meet administration. Including pre-meet organization and administration of meet day activities. Assist in preparing, and conducting individual/team practices, along with competition readiness and routines.
- Assists in the identification and on/off campus recruitment of potential student-athletes for the track program, in accordance with MIAA and NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards. Research and provide an accurate database for Prospective Student Athletes recruit mailings.
- Assistance in the coordination and administration of the overall program, as required. Must be able to perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned in a timely manner. Assist in the coordination of Team Travel arrangements and other duties assigned by the coaching staff.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience in the throwing events is preferred as a collegiate coach or athlete. The ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and electronic forms with recruits, current team members and coaches is essential. We are seeking a highly motivated person who is interested in pursuing a coaching career.
