Job Description
Graduate assistant coaching position for track and field starting January 2025. The ideal candidate will assist with the jumps program and have background in the horizontal jumping events. The candidate must be willing to incorporate and utilize the Rockhurst University philosophies in their coaching methods. This position will also allow for further education via Masters degree programs offered at Rockhurst University.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Provide coaching and instruction to student-athletes participating in the program;
- Assist the head coach with administrative duties and program oversight as directed;
- Assist with actively recruiting new student-athletes to the program within RU and NCAA Division II guidelines;
- Support the academic progress of all team members;
- Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship and conduct representative of the coaching profession and RU Athletics;
- Maintain compliance with rules and regulations of all conference and NCAA;
- Complete the annual NCAA coach’s rules test;
- Mentor and develop a positive culture for student-athletes.
- Related duties as assigned by the head coach.
Candidates must be admissible to one of Rockhurst’s graduate degree programs and available to start this coming January. Base compensation will include tuition and the possibility of on-campus room and board – there is no monetary stipend provided.
