Job Description

Position Qualifications:

• Passion for the sport of track & field / cross country and looking to start a career in athletics
• Bachelor’s degree required and acceptance into a Graduate Studies program at Western Carolina University
• Previous experience as a coach or athlete is preferred
•  Proficient in Word, Excel and social media skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
• Valid driver’s license

Position Responsibilities:

• Develop, oversee varied event coaching (practice and competition), preference given to distance or sprints/hurdles experience
• Assist in fundraising and promotion of cross country/track & field program
• Practice planning and organizing
• Assist in home meet management
• Ability to effectively communicate through oral, written and electronically with recruits, current student-athletes, coaches and support staff
• Any other duties assigned by the head or assistant coaches
