Job Description
Western Oregon University, an NCAA Division II institution located in Monmouth, Oregon is seeking applicants for the Fall of 2024 for Track & Field.
Start Date: September 24th, 2024
In accordance with all NCAA, GNAC and institutional policies and procedures, the position of Graduate Assistant Coach reports to the head track & field coach and is responsible for assisting in all areas of the program. This position includes a preferred emphasis on operational responsibilities including; active student-athlete recruiting, compliance paperwork, office tasks given by the head coach, CARA logs, and assistance with travel. This position is also open to all event coaching areas, preferred areas of emphasis include: Multi event, pole vault and/or Javelin experience.
This GA will receive a monthly stipend (.49) per month during the school year. This GA will also receive 9 credits of full-time enrollment.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, be conscientious and reliable, with an aptitude for creative problem solving
- Active Driver’s License or ability to get one before the start date.
- Must be able to be accepted into a Western Oregon University graduate program.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Ethical Responsibilities:
The graduate assistant coach, as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletic Department, agrees to represent the University in an honorable and ethical manner to the best of his/her ability. Standards for ethical conduct for athletic department staff are established and enforced by the Athletic Director, Western Oregon University, the State Board of Higher Education, the GNAC and the NCAA.

Hours: Typically, the Graduate Assistant is expected to work the following hours Monday thru Friday, weekend travel. Workload requirement is 19.6 hours per week (.49 FTE). Shifts may be adjusted in response to periodic need.
