Job Description

Hostos Community College seeks driven and student-centered applicants for the part-time position of Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Track & Field.

This part-time position is responsible for building, planning, organizing and supervising a competitive Men’s and Women’s Track & Field intercollegiate program within the spirt, policies and rules of Hostos Community College, the City University of New York Athletic Conference and the NJCAA. The position is to be filled as soon as possible with the program re-starting in the Spring 2022 semester. The head coach is responsible for all aspects of building and coaching the program including recruiting student athletes, academic retention, in season practice, competition, travel, fundraising, administrative paperwork and maintaining office hours. The head coach is responsible to assist the athletic administration with the build out of a year-round competitive Track & Field program to eventually include the addition of Cross Country (fall) and Indoor Track & Field (winter) in future years to go along with the spring outdoor season. Future additional compensation of salary will accompany the addition of fall and winter teams in the program.

Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Track & Field and ability to recruit student athletes to re-start the program.
• Ability to recruit and knowledge of PSAL and NYC CHSAA Track & Filed/Cross Country programs.
• Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions.
• Knowledge of fundamentals, techniques and rules of Track & Field.
• Ability to assess athletic skills and instruct athletes in techniques of Track & Field.
• Ability to develop practice plans and continued year-round development of student athlete’s Track & Field skills.
• Ability to work within CUNYAC, Region XV and NJCAA rules and regulations.
• Ability to effectively communicate with student athletes, parents, coaches, media, faculty, staff, students and general public.
• Monitor student athlete academics and team study halls.
• Schedule all practices and meets.
• Purchase, inventory and maintain equipment and apparel.
• Schedule community services events with student athletes.
