Position Overview:
The University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL), a proud member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and NCAA Division II, invites applications for a full-time Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach / Coordinator of Game Day Operations. This dual-role position offers a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic, organized, and visionary leader to contribute both to the competitive success of UMSL’s cross country program and the execution of high-quality game day experiences for Triton Athletics.
Primary Responsibilities:
As Head Cross Country Coach:
- Direct all aspects of the men’s and women’s cross country programs, including training, competition planning, recruiting, and student-athlete development.
- Foster a team culture rooted in integrity, academic achievement, and competitive excellence.
- Design and implement daily practice schedules and race strategies aligned with long-term program goals.
- Manage team operations, including travel planning and budget oversight.
- Ensure full compliance with NCAA, GLVC, and university rules and expectations.
- Promote the program and student-athletes through campus involvement, community outreach, and alumni engagement.
As Coordinator of Game Day Operations:
- Assist in planning and executing game day operations for home athletic events during the winter and spring seasons.
- Support event setup, manage in-game logistics, and oversee post-event breakdown.
- Coordinate with facilities staff, game officials, visiting teams, and internal departments to deliver a seamless and professional event experience.
- Assist in scheduling, training, and supervising student workers and game day staff.
- Ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging atmosphere for student-athletes, fans, and all game day participants.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
