Friends University is seeking to fill the position of Head Track & Field Coach in Wichita Kansas. This position will oversee all areas of the Friends University intercollegiate Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Program. This includes budget management, personnel management, practice and competition planning, recruitment and retention. To support the Christian mission and values of Friends University and the NAIA Champions of Character.

The Athletic Department is looking for an individual that has experience coaching/recruiting the event areas of Sprints/Hurdles/Jumps/Combined Events. The Track Program at Friends has experienced a wide range of success at both the conference and national level in the last 8 years. The Program has won 22 conference championships and finished Top 25 at Nationals 12 different times since 2012. The program has grown from 40 athletes to 100, and the next Head Coach will be responsible for maintaining a total roster of 100 athletes.

3-5 years of experience in coaching/recruiting required. Head coaching experience preferred. High school head coaching experience will be considered.

Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred.

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. The ability to motivate and influence others is material to this position. Requires diplomacy, ability to garner trust of others and maintaining confidential information. Ability to lead in an inclusive and developmental manner.

The position requires strong financial management, time management and personnel management skills. The individual must possess acute understanding of sport preparation and facilitation. Some experience and skill in fundraising and summer camp development will be considered. The individual must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 35 pounds.
